Algarve, Portugal is remembered is etched in history as the historical site from where the Portuguese set out to discover the world. A growing number of UK travelers have been choosing Algarve, a locale in the southernmost region of Portugal as their destination of choice. According to Wikipedia, Algarve covers slightly less than 5,000 km and extends south of the Tagus Valley on the southern coast of the Iberian Peninsula. The region ‘s famous national reserve, the Rio Formosa lagoon is home to hundreds of migrating birds while the picturesque coastline is line by spectacular limestone caves and grottoes. The blue ocean is mostly warm and clam making it a perfect spot for swimming and indulging in water sports of varied nature. People here live I harmony with nature. The maximum area temperature fluctuates between 25 Celsius during winter time to 48 Celsius in the summer months.

Algarve boasts a population of over 400,000 inhabitants but the number rises to over 1 million during the peak tourism seasons. The cosmopolitan and bustling towns are Portimao and Albufeira while the capital Faro and Tavira showcase the traditional Portuguese architecture. The other cities that straddle the area include Portimo, Vila Real de Santo Antonio and Lagoa. The tourism industries began to rise in the area in the 60’a, with great number of tourist arriving from the UK, Germany, Ireland and Netherlands.
