Another traditional heroic archetype can be seen in Alfred, Lord Tennyson's, Ulysses. In this dramatic poem the hero, Ulysses, is trying to return back home from the battle of Troy. However, Ulysses is cursed because he had offended the greek god Poseidon and had to face numerous foes and challenges. Ulysses demonstrates his strongest quality, his determination, when he states, "I cannot rest from travel; I will drink/ Life to to the lees. All times I have enjoyed/ Greatly suffered greatly, both with those/ That loved me, and alone; on shore" ( l. 6 -9). Judging from Ulysses' state, he misses home, but he wouldn't sleep because he won't let anything get in his way from getting home to those who await him on shore. This is a short and concise
