Kohn begins by pointing out the so called positives and negatives to homework. Some negative effects he includes are lack of time for other activities and possible loss of interest in learning. Kohn points out that there will be a never ending argument when it comes to homework. If teachers do not assign homework, parents will think their children are not getting a good enough education and if they do, that leads to more stress and negative affects on the children. In the article, Kohn stated at the high school level, no study has sustained the belief that homework builds character or teaches good study habits. I believe there is a proper time for homework, elementary and middle school not being of that but homework may be good for high schoolers.
