Alexander The Great Power

Today in history there are names that are well known, even centuries after their feats. Names such as Alexander the Great and Augustus and their stories stick in the minds of those who hear them. However, it’s important to understand why these people where considered great and if they really were as great as people write them off to be. Just like in today’s day positions of power bring corruption as well as general down fall. It’s important to understand the history behind great leaders and how they managed their position of leadership as well as how they lost it, be it death, corruption, or betrayal each person of power has their story and their impact on history. Plutarch speaks highly of Alexander and his feats, while subtly pointing out his flaws, in one quote stating “While he was still a boy his self-restraint showed itself in the fact that, although he was impetuous and violent in other matters, the pleasures of the body had little hold upon him, and he indulges in them with great moderation, while his ambition kept his spirit serious and lofty in advance of his years” Plutarch states that Alexander was modest in his fame and did things for himself rather than for praise.
