Alexander the Great A hero is defined as one who strives for perfection for his or her friends, family or country and is a role model for all in whatever he or she may pursue. Alexander the Great fits this role perfectly. He has multiple attributes that make him a well-rounded person overall. Heroes have the power to make or break their legacy. Their choices have a profound impact on their future as well as the future of the people they are leading. Leaders make vital decisions regarding the people they are leading. Alexander the Great is a hero because of his display of leadership when he was young, his power of commanding an army and he spread his empire to the near East and Asia. Alexander was brave in his teenage years. He was loyal and above all he was fearless. He was born to parents King Philip II of Macedon and Queen Olympia. His father, King Phillip II, was absent for most of his teenage life, leaving him with his mother to raise him for most of his life. Alexander …show more content…
This empire exponentially spread to vast areas of land all the way to near East and Asia. First he fought tribes in the north to control Greece, attacking the Greek City-state, Thebes. Alexander then led his army towards Persia fighting on the coastline and then ultimately landing in Gordium finding the Gordian Knot. Later he moved into Syria. While in Syria, he traveled into Tyre. Finally he led his army into the Persian Empire crushing the Persians crossing the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers. He was more than a warlord or conqueror though; he also spread Greek civilization to huge areas of the ancient world and in turn exposed Greece to the knowledge of the conquered lands, giving a huge boost to scholars in both. Alexander's treks through all of these areas are remarkable itself. He led his people to countless amounts of land so that his people would have other opportunities for prosperity.
