Some historians believe that Alexander the Great lived a life of excess while others believed that he lived a life of moderation, but which life did he really live? Compared to other rulers of his time, Alexander the Great is considered by many to be an excessive king because of his rash decisions with his power (T). Because Alexander was born in an area where alcohol was common and accepted, he abused it when in power which resulted in extreme destruction of cities and deaths (MS1). Alexander the Great was also excessive in abusing his power to the point where he murdered friends and allies (MS2). Cleitus responded saying that Alexander was considered as unjustified king of Macedonians and that all of his achievements were occurred back due to his father which made Alexander furious. Alexander called his guards but his own guards did not want to intervene in a tension with friends.
Most members including Alexander were rather drunk during this occasion, Alexander threw an apple at Cleitus' head and called it a dagger or spear but it was removed when Alexander was restrained while Cleitus being hustled out of the room. He was full of anger again and called for his trumpeter to summon the army. Furthermore Cleitus managed to return with attempt in wanting to utter more resentment against Alexander. Alexander then got a hold of a javelin and threw it through Cleitus' heart
The death wasn't occurred because of wanting Cleitus’ death, Alexander had just wanted to kill of the generation to keep his own generation in power since Cleitus was a member of the generation of Philip
