Alexander III: The Greatest Accomplishments Of Alexander The Great

Alexander III achieved many things in his life, including his leadership of the best military at the time, control of one of the biggest empires ever, and influence on many kinds of cultures. All of these achievements show that Alexander deserves to be great. The main reason that most people know Alexander is that he conquered a great radius of land. The amount of land he conquered is around 2,000,000 sq miles, this feat made Macedonia one of the biggest empires, however, 10 years after his death, the huge empire of Macedonia splits apart. Alexander started his conquering spree at 20 years of age and to conquer it all took 11 years, making him one of the youngest people in history to achieve such an extraordinary deed. During battle, he was an expert strategist, especially in battle formation. This fact is supported by the Macedonian victory in his last major battle, in which he tricked Porus (the Indian king) into battling some of his soldiers, while the others attacked from another side. The phalanx is another good example of his strategic skills. The phalanx was one of the best defense formations at the time, and many of the Macedonian formations that were formulated by him, had the phalanx as the trump card.
