Alexander the Great was a very respectful person. For instance, during the last battle of Alexander and King Darius III, Darius fled once again after his army was crushed by the enormous strength and sharp skills of Alexander’s army. However, as he was searching in the eastern part of his empire for soldiers to have another battle with Alexander, he was betrayed and killed by one of his satraps, local rulers, Bessus. When Alexander found Darius's’ dead body, he was very dejected. Based on Alexander the Great: Facts, Biography, and Accomplishments, “Alexander sent Darius’ body back to Persepolis and ordered that he be buried, like all his royal predecessors, in the royal tombs.” Alexander even chased after Bessus until he was captured and killed. Even though Darius was Alexander’s enemy for a long time, Alexander still respected him a lot and never wanted him dead. Furthermore, Alexander not only respected royaltys, but also respected the citizen’s of empires. While Alexander was on his quest to conquer Persia, his invasion caused a lot of destruction. Moreover, the Persians were the ones who were attacked, so it would be natural for them to think Alexander was not great, even though wars and battles means destructions and attacks. Also, this was very common at that time as many people killed to get power. This is nothing unnatural and counted as nothing in history. Beside these, Alexander may have many other faults, but he was a human, too. Every human make mistakes and have faults. That’s why, regardless of Alexander the Great’s faults, I believe Alexander the Great was a great influential historical figure because he was smart and respectful, important traits that you need in order to be a leader.
