On March 3, 1847 nobody knew that an amazing inventor was born; This inventor was Alexander Graham Bell. Alexander Graham Bell was a scottish-born scientists and inventor that was known best for inventing the first working telephone in the year of 1876. He later founded the Bell telephone Company just a short year later. Even though he is greatest known for his invention of the telephone he is also known for many other great inventions.

Even after the invention of the telephone, Alexander still wasn’t completely satisfied. Next he went on to the “Photophone.” The photophone was invented almost 20 years before the radio. Bell’s first and original photophone was not fully identified in its time; this was due to practical limitations in the technology of the time. His original photophone was unsuccessful to preserve transmissions from outside interferences, such as clouds. This all changed almost a whole century later due to the invention of fiber optics. In the 1970’s these fiber optics enabled for the secure transport of light.
Alexander Graham Bell has many more inventions that most people don’t even know about. Alexander also invented the Hydrofoil. The hydrofoil is a boat whose hull is fitted underneath with shaped vanes (foils) that lift the hull of water so the boat can go faster. You may have heard of his phrase “heavier than water machine. Along with the telephone, photophone, and the hydrofoil Bell also invented the metal detector. This invention was created for a more unique purpose than the others and most do not know why. Alexander invented the metal detector as a last resort to find a bullet lodged in the chest of President James Garfield in 1881.
