Alexander Graham Bell invented the original telephone with his assistant, Thomas Watson in 1876, when Alexander was 27 years old. Alexander Graham Bell was born on March 3, 1847 and later died on August 2, 1922 at the age of seventy-five. Alexander lived in Edinburgh, Scotland with his family during his childhood and later moved with his family to live in Brantford, Ontario, Canada in 1870 because two of Alexander’s brothers had died of tuberculosis and he was also at risk. Alexander later moved to live in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada where he spent the rest of his life and later died. The main reason why Alexander created the telephone was because he wanted to teach his deaf students how to visualize sound.
