Sound Recording: In the 1940’s – 1950’s, Alex uses to listen Louis Jordan, Muddy Waters, Bb King, Ray Charles, and Little Richard. His favorite artist is Johnny Hooker, his favorite song by him and possibly period is Natural Born Lover. In his house, when he was younger, he had a turntable. It was sort of like what DJ’s used in the 1980’s-present day; just not high tec. All his music was bought for one dollar in a little record store in Jackson, Mississippi. There was a magazine back them call Popular Jive or Jazz, and Ebony put it out for it for a long time. Alex said “that magazine allowed everyone to know and learn about the artist”.

His experience when going to the early movie theaters he saw that there weren’t many blacks in the movies, and most of the movies were about World War II. The difference from the 1960’s was that the movies did have ratings on them so, Alex and the rest of the movie goers didn’t know what was suitable for children.
