Alert Realty Company Case Summary

The president of Alert Realty Company was asked by one of his salesmen’s wives to require her husband to go to a marriage counselor, one that the company donates to. Dan O’Brien, the husband, has not been doing as well as he has in the past according to his sales, so this marital problem could be affecting his work. The problem is if the president can intervene within this personal affair or not because it could be affecting his work, and the company’s sales. The first course of action that could be taken would be to have a meeting with Dan O’Brien stating that he will be required to go to the Community Marital Relations Center to not only help with his marriage, but to help him get back on track to becoming the number one salesmen in the company again. The pro with this course of action is that this could be the reason Dan’s numbers are going down and that could help with his sales numbers to increase, which would help the overall company. After finding out what the problem is, then the president needs to help Dan to fix his problem so he can get back to being one of the top salesmen. The pro to this would be that the president is not only helping Dan with whatever is going on, but is also letting him know that his sales are not where they need to be and he wants to help him become one of the top salesmen again. The con to this would be possibly intervening in a personal problem. The reason this option would be better than the first would be that the president is not the one bringing up the problem. He just wants to know why sales are lower than usual.
