Alene Smith swept the floor of the lobby, trying to look graceful
She swept her arms in what she thought was a fluid motion, but it was hard The floor was almost clean, but then she spotted a clump of dirt by her foot, and tried to sweep it up She knew that sweeping up dirt probably wasn't the smartest idea, but she was watching the television and she didn't think much of it She didn't want to move, because even if she moved a little bit to the left she wouldn't be able to see the television anymore As she tried to sweep up the dirt, she moved her foot a little bit, and she tripped over the broom She heard the few customers chuckle, and her face turned red The impact of hitting the floor had made her mind stray from watching the television, but now Alene was more focused on not making a fool of herself any more
The only reason she accepted the cheap-paying job at a McDonald’s was because she needed a job and there was even a television there She worked as a cashier and a cook Afterwards, she cleaned
Working there from 6 AM to 6 PM was a burden, but Alene worked anyway, because Alene needed money desperately Twelve hours a day meant that she worked
