Beginning this chapter Adler explains the different levels of reading . Staring with grade school but Alder seems to find the reading requirements a failure. Alder believes that our schooling system is failing students in teaching them how to read. The schooling system in America lets students move up to the next level of schooling without showing any improvements in reading. Alder points out that we should interpret a schooling system like France. The method used in France is called exploitation than texte. It's necessary for students in grade school to be able to read at the level that is expected. Depending on the school level that they're in. If the student isn't able to meant those requirements they will not able to move on to the next level.

Furthermore, Alder writes about the false criteria that people implement on a good reader. Most people distinguish the difference between a good reader by the difficulty of the book. For example, someone one who is able to read books of science and physics is seen as a better reader. Than someone who reads magazine and newspapers. That's not how it should be measured Alders writes. All reading material has a different demand and

Reading is used in everyday life and it varies in all categories. We read for entertainment, education and informational purposes. But all that I mentioned require a different way of reading it. The first type involves magazines,newspaper,and books. These types of reading require less effort and do not increase our understanding. Reading newspapers and magazine only improves our ability to remember more. But doesn't fully go in depth into understanding. The second type of reading involves any type of reading material that you do not understand before reading it. This type reading increases a person's ability to learn. It encourages or frustrates the reader to better understand the reading so that he can increase his learning capacity

    For schools in today’s society, I believe the best way to continue would be to slightly modify the approach for reading instruction depending on the preferred learning method of each child. Additionally, pressure from parents to have the children reading as early as possible should be reduced. Whenever possible, adults should aim to reduce the stress projected on young children to rush through the process of learning to read, especially for homeschoolers.
