Alcoholism In Military

I have had the pleasure of serving in the U.S. Army for over 20 years. During my time I have seen many changes as to how to deal with drug and Alcohol use within the service. One of the greatest increases I have noticed with alcohol use comes right after any deployment. Where most military personnel that likes to drink often try to make up for the months away and unable to drink in a 30-day period. One would like to think that as we continue to cope with the different things that have happens on a daily based is that we as people would learn to adapt to and learn how to work around the work place issues that push people to drink and do drugs.
What I have found over the years is that most of your people doing drug and alcohol is your so called blue collar workers. t has been stated that due to the hard labor intensity in some area like construction and mining have a higher percentage
Of people that consume alcohol or do drugs. These areas shocked me because from my upbringing these were your hard working family oriented people that was big on pride in one’s self and family.
I would think that Company's would save a lot of employee down time and help their employee's if they had a training program that on a regular basic spoke with their employees on different thinks that was available and they would be covered for on their company insurance program. Also I am of the believe that is a person see that you really care about them and their well-being they will work harder for you. No matter what the circumstances
