At a point or time in life everyone comes face to face with alcohol. Either if it was taught in school or if there’s some to drink at a party. Alcohol has a significant role in today’s society, as people are not only taught about alcohol it’s self but the role of its social and health effects. For instance alcohol abuse, many students each year are taught about the harmful effects of alcoholism. Alcoholism also known alcohol abuse is when a person has the inability to control the amount of alcohol they consume. People are taught about how it’s unsafe to drive after drinking alcohol for that can not only harm the person who was drinking but also other drivers surrounded by them. Not having the ability to have complete control while driving is very dangerous. Car accidents, arrest, injuries and even death can occur in this situation. In the United States the legal BAC limit for driving under the influence is a 0.08 BAC. In 2016 about 10,075 people died due to drunk driving. According to Nicola Starkey and Samuel Charlton in article” The effects of moderate alcohol concentrations on driving and cognitive performance during ascending and descending blood alcohol concentrations” published in Human Psychopharmacology: Clinical & Experimental. (Jul. 2014) 61 participants received a medium BAC of 0.05 mg/ml or high BAC 0.08 mg/ml dose of alcohol. Results show that their level of intoxication were poorly related to their actual BAC levels and various aspects of driving and cognitive performance worsened during descending BACs.
