The acute effects of Alcohol on sports performance and human exercise will be covered here. As pervious research has proven alcohol has effects on your central nervous system, muscle energy stores and the cardiovascular system. It is believed that alcohol impairs muscular work capacity and decreases overall physical performance. This also includes an effect on your motor skills, such as impaired vision, balance, reaction time and coordination. However alcohol has some advantages that could be beneficial to performance also. These include a decrease in pain and anxiety and it may help an individual’s perceived exertion rating during exercise.
