While I was growing up the most common items that were on the grocery list were alcohol and cigarettes. I saw how my parents acted when they didn’t get the depressants they craved to get through the day. They were horrible in the words they used until it eventually drew them apart. Now my mom works as a nurse in a recovery center and I hear the stories of addictions problems that occur in other families. I remember as a little kid I would throw bottles of beer and packets of cigarettes into the trash can trying to my parents to stop drinking and smoking. Most people would think I would have a biased opinion when it comes to addictions because of what I saw it do to my family and other families, but I never let that stop me from trying to help
