Excessive abuse of alcohol is a real day-to-day issue for many people around the world. Alcohol addiction is when an individual has a physical as well as a psychological dependence on alcohol. There are many different reasons why one becomes addicted to alcohol, but there’s no single reason. Becoming addicted to alcohol can be caused by social support to environmental factors to using it as a stress reliever. Social support for substance abuse is one of the many reasons why one may become addicted to alcohol. Many people are easily influenced by other people whom they may associate with. To fit in with their friends, an individual is put through great deal of peer pressure. Peer pressure is when a member of a group is influencing an individual to do something so they can fit in. Peer pressure usually and more likely occurs during the teenage years where an individual is more easily influenced. Though peer pressure deals a lot with the reason for alcohol addiction, the individual too can be going through their teenage rebellion stages. There is no doubt that coming from a certain environment or growing up in home where alcohol is easily accessed does influences people to alcohol addiction. For instance, those who grew up in a more liberal household are more likely prone to take part in this type of action. Growing up in home where alcohol is considered normal can be another possible reason for why they take part in this type of activity. Another environmental factor to becoming addicted to alcohol is growing up in a home where alcohol is easily accessed.
