“36 men made a total of 14 escape attempts during Alcatraz’s history”(Anyone ever escape) Out of those 36 men 23 of them were caught, 6 shot, and 2 drowned. The remaining 5 disappeared, never to be found again. (Anyone ever escape). Alcatraz was also had a lot of torture and punishment. “Also called "force-feeding". This involved forcing a rubber tube down the throat of a convict on hunger fast and forcing him to ingest a mixture of milk, sugar and eggs. To do this, staff would have to strap the inmate down very securely, open the mouth with a lever, and put the tube in, a painful process for the inmate...There were no special facilities for physical tortures at Alcatraz. The hooks, the electric shock treatments, the medical experiments, and other horrors found in other world prisons of the time (and, sadly, still to this day) were abhorred by Warden Johnston and the BOP. Alcatraz covers 22 acres and comes around 120 feet above sea level, at one point it held up more than 1,500 prisoners. There were multiple sections where they would hold the prisoners, which were sectioned off as A through D, most were put in blocks B and C and between those there were almost 350 cells. Block A was the Spanish Dungeon, however it was rarely used. (Did anyone ever)
As many can see Alcatraz was a horrible place, it housed horrendous criminals, and as one would say “shaped them up”, This prison on the water was built to hold the most dangerous criminals, because it was the hardest prison to escape from. Today you can visit and or tour Alcatraz as a newly designed park. Being there and seeing what prisoner went through is the amazing thing about keeping the history of Alcatraz
