Alcatraz prison is located in the San Francisco Bay and was home to 1576 men. The prison coded in 1963 and reopened as a historical site in 1972. But how much do we really know about what happened behind closed doors? Here is my list of four untold facts about one of the most famous prisons in the world

Visitations were allowed as long as it was approved by the warden. Inmates were granted one visit per month providing there was no physical contact or reference to any current affairs regarding the prison during their conversations. Discussions between convict and visitor were strictly monitored.

Eight inmates were murdered inside the prison, five who committed suicide and fifteen which died from natural illness. In 1976 a guard reported
