Albrecht Durer's Accomplishments

Durer was a masterful German artist in the Renaissance era. His precocious talents lead him to become one of the art histories most prominent artists. While Durer has been compared to the Italian master Leonardo de Vinci because of their similar interests in naturalism and environmental perceptions, Durer differed by being able to spread awareness of himself and his work across Europe. Adventuring out as a young gifted apprentice, Durer traveled abroad advancing his gifts, while leaving a lasting legacy of his unique work. Albrecht Durer, 1471, was the second son out of almost 18 children that Albrecht Durer senior and Barbra Holper had, with only 3 of them surviving to adulthood. Originally, when the family came from Hungry their family last name was Ajtos, which means door in Hungarian, when they relocated to Nuremberg Germany they assumed the last name of Turer, which is door in German, changing the T …show more content…
Amongst these travels, it has been presumed that Durer studied in the lower countries from Nuremberg, with influences such as the Dutch painters Geertgen tot Sint Jans and Dirk Bouts. Based on works during this period, there is also suggestions that Durer's influence came form the likes of Jan Van Eyck and Roger van Der Weyden, Durer had not established his signature mark until his return home. A developing and talented artist was taking shape and before returning home, Durer spent 2 years at the home and family of Martin Schongaur, Martin had passed away a year earlier, but his brothers welcomed Durer in as their own.
