Albert Einstein is universally looked to as one of the most influential physicists of the 20th century, with his studies making a extensive impact on the understanding of the universe. He was born with a curious mind and strived to understand everything going on in the world around him as well as the world outside his perception. Through this it was concluded that the same event could be happening at contrasting times for different observers, that is space and time are not separate things, but can be combined into what is now known as space-time. Therefore, the more massive the objects, the greater the distortion of space-time will be. Motion has an innate speed limit, whereas gravity does not; extremely heavy objects possess gravity can surpass even the quickest motions. A black hole is the only exception; this is a case where gravity is out of control. Later, a new aspect was added to his theory of relativity involving the concept of dark energy. Einstein’s equation can be reversed to allow for a force opposite of gravity, a force that repels objects called dark energy. The anti-gravity like force of dark energy supposedly acts as a devise to keep the universe from collapsing on itself. The amount of dark energy in the universe is measured by the cosmological constant, the constant states that if it is equal to zero then no dark energy exists in the universe; however, if the constant is above zero dark energy exists and the universe is expanding and below would imply a collapsing universe. The concept of dark energy is only an idea Einstein voiced and he was not proud of the construct of this concept calling it the “greatest blunder” of his life.
