A single man’s incredible theory of relativity forever changed physics. People all over the world acknowledge Albert Einstein as one of the greatest physicists of all time. Even if they do not know specifically what he accomplished, they know his influence on the world is staggering. Despite many obstacles Einstein persevered and was able to create a prestigious reputation for himself although many doubted him. While many know he discovered brilliant things, few know about the fascinating life that led to all of his groundbreaking discoveries.
Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879, in Ulm, Germany (Brian 1). Albert had numerous birth defects. Eventually Einstein grew out of all of his them except his oddly shaped skull (1). Einstein was a part of a Jewish family of four. As a child, Einstein took violin and piano lessons. He really enjoyed hobbies, reading and sailing, to elapse time (Parker 23). The special and general theory of relativity, mass energy equivalence, and quantum theory are all used throughout our daily lives. People all over the world heard about his discoveries. When Einstein published these works, very few people actually questioned Einstein’s discovery. Ireland says, “...most scientists accepted his General Theory of Relativity, even though many of them didn’t really understand it” (81). “Even if Einstein himself did not write his most important essays for practical use or personal profit, his abstract thoughts on light, space and time have led to many technological innovations which appear to us today to be quite normal” (“Einstein’s Legacy”).
