Alaska's Geography

Decent Essays
Do you want to visit and learn about the harshest climate? Then go to Alaska! Alaska’s geography is difficult to explore because of cold climate, rugged terrain, and exploration by foot. First of all, Alaska if a cold climate that has a lot of snow. In the image I saw people in coats, boots, and gloves. I also saw mountains and a lot of snow on the ground. As you can see Alaska is very cold if you plan on visiting there you should be prepared for the cold weather. You also should be prepared for the snow. My second reason is, Alaska has a lot of open fields with blankets of snow. In the video I saw snow at least 3 feet tall and up to the peoples knees. In Alaska you would need to ride a snowmobile just if you don’t want to be walking around

The nature of discovery as a transformative process exemplifies the unique attributes of mankind, through the ability to shift or challenge our perspectives of an individual and our society. Whilst discoveries may be pleasing, it may also be provocative, in that an individual's values and ideas are confronted and challenged. This notion is explored by the SBS documentary, "Go Back to Where You Came From” directed by Ivan O’Mahoney and the novel, "Looking for Alaska" by John Green in which the protagonists are further challenged by entering unexpected worlds in which each individual has the choice to transform their personal perspective. Although set in completely different contexts, both texts portray the ways discoveries may devastate an individual but also become the positive effect in the future and help in rediscovering previously held opinions and perceptions.…

Everyone catches patterns between books when you read many books from the same author. John Green creates complexity to his characters that plays a key role in his stories. Looking For Alaska is no exception. This book is not only full of characters that develop and change (complex characters) and are relevant to the story, but so are the ones who always stay the same (static characters). The two characters that I will be narrowing in on are Miles, more commonly referred to as “Pudge”, and Alaska.…

Well, then Washington is the place for you, with the perfect climate for skiers, snowboarders, and even snowmen builders, or in the summer, a beautiful pool to relax in, while being bronzed by the late summer sun. Granted statehood in 1889, Washington state was named in honor of George Washington; it is the only U.S. state to be named after a president. The state’s coastal location and excellent fishing business contributed to its role for trade with Alaska. The majestic Mount Rainier soars above Seattle and is the highest peak in the continental United States.…

As a Northerner, the holiday season that I experienced in Minnesota is pretty different from the holiday season that my children will experience living in South Carolina. As a kid in Minnesota, Christmas morning usually meant waking up to beautiful, fluffy snow covering our yard. I’d stand over the heat register to feel the warm air blow on my legs while staring out the cold window watching the snow fall. My siblings and I would unwrap presents from Santa which inevitably included new sleds and winter gear. We’d get bundled up while my Dad warmed up the car and we would brave the cold to head to Christmas morning church.…
