I was always afraid of the idea that I would live all my life in one country, never visiting others. Not necessarily all, at least, one country from each continent, except Antarctica. Although I would have gone to see, after all, why polar bears don't eat penguins. Of course, in my 20s, I cannot afford to travel all the world at once, but after I had the luck to participate in one amazing TV program, I understood that even with 100 euros in my pocket, I can visit the most astonishing places in the world.

I would like to share with you a story about how my friend Mark and me, went to a harsh, desolate region with impenetrable forests, rugged mountains and treacherous bears - Alaska. It is often called the "last frontier" - the largest and most Northern state of America. The best part is that we got this chance by accident. Last time when we were traveling to Florida, we met John, the producer of a traveling TV program called: ‘Heads or Tails’. He proposed us to participate in the show and go to Alaska. As Mark and I are fans of exploring new places, we agreed. It became the most amazing experience in our lives. So, I took a bus and went to a store to buy all the necessary things for the expedition: digger kit, rubber boots, some food, and

Other opportunists share the same experiences as Chris McCandless, as they too are trying to isolate themselves in order to achieve solitude and live off the land completely. John Waterman’s expedition was featured in Into The Wild, as it was an adventure that ran parallel to McCandless’s. As they both had parent complications, close relations with their sibling, and both of them went on a prolonged extemporaneous road trip. John embarked on a 145 day expedition on a solo ascent of Mt. Hunter’s southeast spur in the Alaska Range. Waterman did not find what he was looking for on this adventure as “instead of putting his demons to rest, success had merely agitated them” (78 Krakauer).…
