Alana Jones

Introduction:
Alana Jones, a diligent employee of the Bovos Conceitos Publicidade who has been dedicatedly working for the past 6 months for the company recently found out that she is being underpaid in opposition to what her co-worker James, who is getting paid lot more than her despite of them having same education, working in same position and same responsibilities. The only difference between the two is that James ‘voluntarily’ participates in the Company’s Annual soccer tournament and spends time after work training for the soccer tournament all throughout the year. This report covers Alana’s case with deep details and explains how it is ethically wrong to treat an employee in such manner.

Ms Jones, cannot work further in an environment where she is being treated unequally but before calling it quits for her dream company Ms Jones will need to report to the CEO of the ‘Bovos Conceitos Publicidade’ Johan McDonald therefore she will need to provide appropriate evidence, human rights statement of company and normative theories to support her allegation. Based on the Normative ethical theories and the case of Ms Jones it is recommended that Rawls Theory of Justice would be appropriate.
Normative theory

The reason being for using application of Rawls theory of justice is because Ms Jones case is evidently of unfairness and inequality which Rawls theory of Justice debates over. As per the information provided in Crane and Matten on “Fair Wage” it is must that employees should only get waged upon facts such as the goals they accomplish, responsibilities etc. Due to extra training for annual soccer tournament it created distraction and James and others may not work as diligently as Alana. Alana on the other hand, might have to take on James work load on her and it is important that she must get a fair wage for the load of work she may need do. Rawls theory of Justice also states that one should not sacrifice just so that others are being advantaged and enjoying. Then why is it that Alana sacrifices her deserving pay for a recreational activity she cannot even participate in. Which then adds to the first principal of justice Rawls stated above enables Alana to also have the equal “right to employee participation” in soccer tournament or some other recreational activity company would organise for her and other female employees of the company.
