Alan Mathison Turing was one of the greatest mathematicians to have served this world. Without Turing, World War 2 would've raged on for about two to four more years. With Alan Turing's invention of the "Colossus", he was able to break the German code of Enigma. The "Colossus" deciphered the message that came from the German machine the Enigma. With the "Colossus", he saved up to ten to twenty-one million lives. He's a hero of World War 2 and a hero to countless people who could've been a victim of the war. Turing was famous for many things, but mostly famous for being a computer scientist, designer, mathematician, cryptanalyst, and an ultra distance runner. Turing was born on June 23, 1912 and was a victim of suicide on June 7, 1954. His father was Julius Mathison Turing and his mother was Ethel Sara. Alan Turing was born in Paddington, London. Alan Turing's desire for education was immensely strong, that he rode a bicycle over 60 miles to a school- stopping only overnight at an inn. He was amazingly talented in his fields at an early age. In 1936, Alan Turing invented the Turing-complete which were the first computers to stimulate computer algorithm. In 1946, Turing was accepted into the National Physical Laboratory to make an electronic computer with storage of 6k bytes. He had the plans and his designs for his universal machine, but he was beaten to it. Turing resigned in 1948 from the National Physical Laboratory out of depression and instead made the Turing-complete. Turing had the first designs and assumptions of what the modern computer would have been capable of. With the format of the Turing-complete, Charles Babbage was able to invent the first mechanical computer.
