Alain Vigneault Case Study

Decent Essays
Going into this season, Alain Vigneault is in the same boat he was last year, fielding a team with a lot of youth. The New York Rangers second line of Derek Stepan, Chris Kreider, and Kevin Hayes are all 25 or younger.
Last year was Kreider’s second full season, where he totaled 46 points in 80 games (21 goals, 25 assist). This season he is only expected to get better, as Vigneault was quoted early in the preseason that this was Kreider’s time to shine. With his athleticism, he is expected to score close to 30 goals this season. We know he enjoys going to the front of the net, and his hands are so soft, it shouldn’t be a problem for him.
The next young player the Rangers expect something from is 22-year old J.T. Miller. In 58 games last season Miller tallied 23 points, and in the playoffs Miller filled in for Mats Zuccarello’s spot and ended with 8 points in 19 games.

Hayes collected 45 points in 79 games.
With the three lines being possible scoring threats, don’t forget about the fourth line for this team. A line that not only will be a good checking line, but also has the league’s best faceoff specialist in Dominic Moore and Jarret Stoll. Even better, Moore is a lefty, Stoll a righty. Gives the team flexibility all over the ice.
This Rangers team is young, but has experience all over the ice, their defensive core for last season is still intact, they have their starting goalie in net, and the forwards, although most young, they have played in crucial playoff games for this team.
This is a season for Rangers fan to look for, as during preseason they looked as if they are ready to start the season right where they left off last season, having dominance over the

One of the teams that are looking to develop a roster similar to the Cubs is the Atlanta Braves.
