Some say that it was just a simple accident, one of those rare ship crashes. Others say it was something more, such as the ship being already haunted.
The most popular theory is that the first captain of the ship, Nicolas Whitmire. He built the very ship himself, and named it the Sea Eagle II, after his father’s ship before him. He first set sail in 1826, and his ship was on it’s way to New England from the Americas. It would be a six month trip, so him and his crew of fifteen men prepared themselves.
