imperfection, no matter how small, out of their images? Why are there so many women harming
themselves because they hate how their body looks? It’s because our society projects an idea of
beauty that is false and a far cry from the average woman’s size 12. Everyday woman are
bombarded with an unattainable ideal that is impossible to emulate and the results are shocking.

In truth, the airbrushed perfection they show is physically impossible. Yet even
though most women are aware that the perfect airbrushed body is unreachable doesn’t mean they
won’t still try to look like it anyway.
These airbrushed lies affect most women more than they want to admit. Our society
emphasizes the ideas that excess fat is negative, and stick-thin, airbrushed models are the ideal
body image. The pressure to conform to these ideas and look good in the eyes of society actually
causes depression, excessive dieting, and unrealistic weight concerns. These are many of the
things that lead to both anorexia and other eating disorders.
Images of “perfect people” are a huge problem in today’s society, as their effects are
highly damaging. It’s important that we do are part to promote healthy lifestyles for the sake of
being healthy instead of focusing on weight and dieting in order to meet an unrealistic airbrushed
standard of beauty. If we can, we might be able to help women to feel better about themselves
again. It’s time to prove that some sayings aren’t just sayings, and looks really don’t matter
