The military was enabled to transport large quantities of warfare because aircraft is larger than ground vehicles and can support more weight. Additionally, the military was able to transport masses of personnel for multiple reasons. Soldiers are transported to and from war zones because traveling by cargo ship is much slower than aircraft, soldiers are able to reach their destination in record time. Soldiers are also transported around and outside of the U.S. for training purposes, however, if soldiers are sent by ground transportation it would take too long to reach their destination. For example, if a soldier is sent from New York to California for training and uses aircraft for transportation, the soldier would get to their destination within hours versus ground transportation would take days. Another way the military uses aviation transportation is for transport of training aids, such as, sending and receiving weapons, ammunition, vehicles, uniforms, and equipment. Using aviation transportation is more efficient than to send by ground transportation because it takes less time to reach its destination and there are times when personnel or equipment are needed quickly in order to execute a mission successfully. Although the military was the first to take advantage of aviation transportation for many uses it was also utilized for other government use. The United States Postal service(USPS) expanded abundantly because of their ability to transport mail and packages in an expedited process. McAdoo, President Wilson’s son-in-law
