Every year, thousands of pollutants enter our atmosphere, and this has had a profound effect on our entire lives. As companies pump gasses and chemical into the air , everything from our health, to our weather, to our quality of life has been affected. These changes have led to deteriorating conditions to our health and the natural balance yet very little is done to stop it. Air pollution has had detrimental effects on the health of people around the world. In nations like China, the air is polluted to the point that in certain areas masks are necessary to avoid serious respiratory problems. the pollutants in the air there are a serious problem, more so in urban areas where the pollution originates. Greenhouse gasses are emitted from a variety of different sources around the world, and remain trapped in our atmosphere causing the heat from the sun not to reflect back, resulting in the Earth becoming warmer. The change in climate also has had a substantial impact on several different aspects of life. The melting of the polar ice caps is a notable example of how even geography can change as the large amount of ice melts and moves the shoreline farther inland. The loss of the ice caps would be devastating to mankind; the habitats of numerous animals and the homes of many people would disappear, leaving us with several more species driven to extinction, such as the polar bear. The loss of parts of the shoreline would affect the global community as the newly homeless are forced to flee inland from the rising waters. And even with an abundance of evidence saying global warming is real, several people have tried to disprove global warming. Senator Jim Inhofe, a man who has power over the decisions of our country, is very strongly against the idea despite the science to back it up, as are many others.(Sheppard) However, despite the skeptics ' claims that global warming is a myth, research has confirmed a rise in temperature and 97 percent of climate scientists agree that it is very likely that global warming is the result of human
