Air pollution is becoming an important form of pollution in our environment, but before discussing the causes and effects of it we have to know what air pollution means. It is generally defined as the presence of different types of materials in the air that cause harm for humans, animals and plants. The purpose of this essay is to mention how air pollution started and the sources of it, its impact on earth’s creatures, and the solutions to stop this emerging dangerous.
Some people believe that air pollution appeared in last century because of humans’ industries, it could be part of it. But have a look at the two great empires, the Romans and Greeks from the period of 500 BC to 300 AC. …show more content…
Large factories, traffic, power plants that burn fossil fuel to function are the major causes of this problem. Industrial factories that produce metals or chemicals can cause huge hazard to the environment, it may release a small quantity over a long period or a large quantity over a short time. Also, people used cars or buss for transportation that are powered by diesel or gasoline engine. When petroleum products burn to produce power the exhausts from engines contain all kinds of pollution, which can lead to reduce the ozone. In addition, home fireplaces and backyard barbecue grills can affect air pollution. (Woodford, 2014) and (Vallero, …show more content…
In fact, there are natural causes that are equally important such as the volcanos, forest fire and sand storms. When the volcano explode a massive amount of smoke comes out from it, this contains harmful gases that can remain in the atmosphere for a long time. Accidental forest fire has a dangerous effect on the environment, it emits pollution in the form of smoke that could cause death or reduce the visibility for a long distance from actual fireplace. On the other hand, sand storms are considered as the largest natural source that causes air pollution. Its tiny particles mixed with air in huge quantities leads to damaging of the house exterior or decrease the vision. (Vallero, 2007) and (National Geographic, n.d.)
Air pollution has several effects on the humans, environment, plants, and animals even a long-term effect on the earth. Human’s health can be affected by air pollution in the worse case death might happen from the smoke or the chemicals that are transferred by air. According to BBC News “Twenty five years ago in the Indian city of Bhopal, a cloud of toxic gas leaked from a pesticide factory. Within three days, 8,000 people were dead, Thousands more have died or been badly affected since”. (Vallero, 2007) and (Woodford,
