Karanbir Singh (T00556958) Summary Passing and catching are the fundamental individual skills which can be used as primary weapon against the defensive team. Principles of pass and catch are to pass with your feet on ground and catch while feet in the air as soon as player catch the ball, he immediately face the basket to see the floor. Player must make an easy pass, away from the defender and can use pass fakes to tackle the defense. Always catch the ball with the eyes, soft hands and be prepared for bad pass and don`t dribble until you catch the ball in both hands. While playing a match offensive player has to make some choices like whether to give an air pass or a bounce pass. There are different kinds of passes which can be …show more content…
Some principles of moving without the ball are as follows: watch for the floor spacing always be 15-18 feet apart from the teammate, move with purpose, move out of defender`s vision and get close to get open. Player should be to learn the defense and ball to get open successfully. In order to move without the ball in a proper manner, player should change pace and direction (v-cut) correctly and effectively. There are various kinds of moves related with moving without the ball which are: back door cut, back door move, front cut and rear cut. These moves shares common skills but with a slight variation and they also have some key points like player has to keep the dribble alive until he saw perfect position forming and other teammate has to be open and at least 6-8 far away from each other. Most of the two on one drills of moving without the ball have the same characteristics which are: reading the defender, if you are open then go for v-cut else use back door move.
