I have honorably and loyally served my country for over eight years now and would like to continue to serve my country by joining the United States Air Force. Since I was 17 years old and joined the military, I knew that I was destined to uphold the values of honor, tradition, and loyalty to my country. In 2008, when I was in 12th grade and dual enrolled in college, I knew I wanted to join the Air Force. At this time, I made a good friend in college who served 22 years, and retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant. His mentorship further instilled a sense of pride and longing for me to serve my country in the US Air Force. During that final year of High School, I took the ASVAB and was eager to see if I was qualified for an aviation

Having the honor to serve in the Army is one of the most rewarding vocations I can think of. Not only will I be protecting the people of this nation, but also I will be defending it’s virtues, and upholding the tenets that make America truly great, namely freedom. I have always considered myself a true Patriot, and attending West Point and serving my country will prove the extent of my patriotism. My entire life, as short as that may seem to some, I have striven to better myself, improve my core values and sharpen my mental strength. As a younger adult achieving the rank of Eagle in scouting helped me focus on these efforts.…

Joining the Military has been the mark at this point, helping me express my true character. On my aimless path to finding my true calling in life after high school, there were many swings and misses. My dad is an electrical contractor so there's where i first put my mind into but realized this really might not be my exact calling I mean it never really drew my interest as much as i felt it should. Then I tried carpentry and being and office assistant, but those made me feel more hopeless than I ever had on my path to finding something that actually inspired me to wake up every morning, fall asleep knowing I'm right where I belonged. Until I joined the military, which probably wasn’t my easiest decision.…

This summer, I attended the Air Force Academy Summer Seminar, where I experienced cadet life firsthand. I was able to live on campus for a week, meet cadets, and participate in academic classes. Once there I went towards the Marines (Later I did realize this wasn’t the branch I would’ve rather joined), and there I started, I took the practice ASVAB, I talked to them about what I wanted to get out of joining and why. As towards the end of the interview, they did ask for something I couldn’t provide, proof of residency. I thought that the Immigration card (DACA card) would work, but since the least you need to be when joining the military is a permanent resident, the Card didn’t cover that. The distraught that was on me when I realized some of the many things I couldn’t do due to my history, something I’ve wanted since a child. It was life learning of the many things in the near…

Coming from a military lineage, I have been raised with American values and a deep sense of patriotism. Becoming an office in our military will allow me to demonstrate that sense of patriotism, as well as allow me to give back to the country that gave me so much. It has been a life goal to attend a service academy, as I know of the excellent officers that they produce. Many graduates of academies go on to great things in their lives, in both the civilian and military spheres. The leadership abilities that academies teach their graduates have tremendous value, and I believe that the finest officers come from these institutions.…

I now take pride in having the words “U.S. Air Force” on my left chest, it is now a part of my identity. I have mixed all of my life experience and what I have learned to become an individual helping shape the Air Force heritage. My career with the Air Force officially began with basic military training, humbling me to become the Airmen with the confidence and skills I have today. Already knowing how to march, when and who to salute and knowing customs and courtesies, gives me an opportunity to mentor and guide my fellow cadets in the beginning of our journey through the prep school and onto the academy. Having been exposed to unmatched leadership, flourishing in the Air Force culture and knowing what it takes to be an airman gives me a unique experience and perspective on life, and would give the Air Force Academy a dynamic that is uncommon.…

You only have two choices: Army or College? For many the Army was the only option, for various reasons. My interest in the Naval Academy and the fleet began as just another college option. I have not had any family member serve in the Navy and was rather indifferent to military service, other than my admiration for the men and women who serve. As I continued to explore my options, the Naval Academy remained on the backburner until I visited for the summer STEM program two years ago. As soon as I first walked on post, I instantly knew I loved it--the beautiful old architecture, the shimmering blue water, and the white-clad Midshipmen marching crisply down Stribbling. This past summer, when I visited again for NASS, I decided the Naval Academy was the one for me.…
