Air Force Core Values

Decent Essays
The first thing I thought of to answer this question is my time in the military. In the Air Force, we are taught to follow three core values. These three core values are integrity first, service before self and excellence in all we do. I try to especially follow the last one, excellence in all we do, in most aspects of my life. I have tried to follow this so far in my time at CCU with my previous classes, and plan to continue as I complete my last few classes towards my degree in Information Systems Management. Also, the experience gained from typing numerous emails, memos, and official documents, have helped me in writing papers for college. Finally, as a weather forecaster in the Air Force, I have completed many research assignments that

National Honor Society Application Essay For any human to exhibit qualities throughout their lifestyle, one must transcend in certain aspects of their nature. Everyone is born with a different character or personality and not everyone exceeds in all of the same categories, however; I would place myself among the four characteristics of scholarship, leadership, service, and outstanding character as some of the qualities where I excel. I have always been a very studious person, and I take pride in my achievements in the classroom. I was also raised to believe that my best is an A, so when I got my first B it was not something taken lightly. I try to remember that if you put your mind to something, then you can accomplish it, which reminds me of the quote by Mike Farrell, “If you try to do your best there is no failure.”…

In Amy Widner’s essay, The Pursuit of Just Getting By, a college student expresses her dismay in the attitude her generation holds towards school work ethic. Widner insistently explains that the sardonic outlook that students have on doing homework and class assignments reflects negatively on her peers and primarily on the workforce they will be apart of in the future. Her essay insists that students take their work seriously in order to secure a good job and reputation, delivering a well explained list of reasons to do so; such as the fact that students are paying to attend class and it “increase[s]... chances of excelling in the job market.” Although her stances on the subject are well executed and backed by a large amount of evidence, Widner’s…

About ten years ago, I was broke, unemployed, sleeping on a friends couch and was going nowhere. However, now I have a respectable amount of assets, a career with upward mobility, and a nice home of my own. I’ve been a Marine Judge Advocate for over 17 years. I say that not to admit guilt but state pride in my duties and profession. Despite the well-worn clichés and easy cynicism about lawyers, I am an unrepentant leader of Marines who questions the Marine Corps approach to character development in our Corps and the oft mere reliance on the “Judge” to teach “ethics” to our Marines. We, as leaders, need to do more to make sure the character that takes command in moments of crucial choices is well-developed in our Marines and beyond reproach. I’ve seen a great deal during my military career, from petty and major criminal conduct to extraordinary demonstrations of integrity and courage, both physical and moral, under fire.…

Fulfill or exceed our legal and ethical responsibilities in our public and personal lives. We were trained to have integrity (to do the right thing when no one is looking), and even when someone is looking we have the respect training knowledge and courtesy to do the right thing all the time. People are always looking at us even when you do not see them or think that they are watching. Integrity goes a long way to prove your honor, and your shipmates and fellow people will see that and I’ve learned that whether you know it or not they feed off of you. So if you are a positive role model and set a perfect example of not only honor but courage and commitment it carries you a long way and you will mold an impression that others will never forget.…

Writing does not come easily to everyone. No one starts out writing perfect essays, and everyone has areas where they need improvement. It takes many different skills, time, and a lot of revision. High school writing is much different from college writing, and with the help from the article “What Is Academic Writing?” by L. Lennie Irvin and chapter one in “From Inquiry to Academic Writing” it is easier to understand what academic writing is about and how it works.…
