If Aileen Wuornos come to me for a treatment, she would identify her problem as self-defense.
Aileen Wuornos and his brother Keith, was abandoned by her mother Diane Wuornos when she was almost four years old, leaving them with their maternal grandparents, Lauri and Britta Wuornos. Parents Diane Wuornos and Leo Dale Pittman divorced a couple of months before she was born. Wuornos never met her father (he was incarcerated at the time of her birth). He was diagnosed with schizophrenia, later convicted of sex crimes against children, and eventually hanged himself in prison on January 30, 1969 when she was just 13-years-old. The grandparents legally adopted Keith and Aileen on March 18, 1960. Wuornos became pregnant at 14-years-old

Tyria felt in love with her and she wasn't happy with the life she had with her parents, so she ran away to go live with Aileen with the intention that Aileen will take care of her. She confessed the first killing to Tyria in which she took it as self-defense, but after she find out about more of Aileen’s killing, she explained to her that killing people is not normal and all those guys couldn't possible hurt her. Aileen was still thinking that those killing were normal because people are unfair with her and the politics kill people everyday. Tyria kept the relationship with her even though she found out Aileen was a murder. Tyria’s mother tried to open her daughter eyes by making her understand that life isn’t easy for no one and just because we struggled in life we cannot go out there and do wrong such as prostitution. She added that there are a lot people out there that struggled in life but choose another way of living and people just make wrong choices. Tyria was so obsessed of having a beach house and unemployed life that Aileen offered her, so she stopped caring about Aileen’s killing (Monster, 2003). The last man that Aileen killed was a cop. Infancy is one of the most significant stages in the development of the human. Infancy need to be emotionally stable in order to development a proper adult personality (Freeman M., 2008). The first twelve months are especially critical to the development of emotions such as remorse and affection. If a child does not receive adequate attention and physical touch during this time period they may suffer substantial personality disorders in the future (Freeman M., 2008). This may imply that as infants’ serial killers such as, Aileen Wuornos did not receive proper attention as she was given up by their biological mothers for adoption during a vital period in her lives. Divorce by her parents in her childhood is another reason to trigger her, emotionally. In addition, the lower the class and income of the household, the more likely the children in the household would commit a violent offence. When low income parents expected high academic achievement, the children were much less likely to engage in any violent crime. (Englander K. E., 2012, ch 2). Poverty is another reason that pushed Aileen to commit violent crime. To survive, she had to prostitute, so she can make some money to live. Thus, poverty and lack of parenthood pushed her to prostitution, which leaded to a violent
