National AIDS and STD control programme should provide simple, clear and accurate information about AIDS in order to create public awareness and understanding of the dangers of the disease. Put more effort in the use of newspaper, radio, television, posters, roadside billboards, drama and songs contests to disseminate information about HIV and AIDS to the general public.
Public information campaign should aim at:
1. Increasing knowledge and concern about HIV and AIDS.
2. Promoting safer sexual behavior thus reducing the sexual transmission of HIV.
3. Encouraging respect and compassion for people living with HIV/AIDS in the community.
4. Everybody should aim at going for AIDS screening test.
PARENTS
The parents should go back to the roots. They should teach the young ones basic morals. There should be reinforcement of traditional belief on virginity, good moral upbringing with the ultimate goal on no sex before marriage.
Parents should provide basic needs of their children. They should hold regular meetings with their children to help them know the children’s problems.
Sex should be discussed with the children so as to enlighten them on sex education.
YOUTHS
They should be industrious. If they cannot get a white collar job, they should start a small time business. They should always be contented with whatever little they have.
