Nowadays, Weiwei lives in his studio, but there's cameras all over his neighborhood to ensure the government that Weiwei is being watched constantly. I find Weiwei’s work to be art because he has a personal experience with his art subject and with his audience. Art is an expressive way to communicate skill and imagination but a large part of art is the experience an individual has in making it. Weiwei’s uses art to create a division and a revolution in people’s minds. For example, Weiwei took a series of shots where he smashes and old and valuable urn from the Han dynasty and he explains his reasons, Weiwei says that Mao Zedong, a former chinese chairman, believes in destroying the old world to create a new world.…

The painting depicts a dishevelled women, dressed in black, standing in front of a barren tenement building. The color black often symbolizes death, evil and fear of the unknown, as it is a unique mix of all colors. Unlike most of Davis’s other work, Chinatown lacks vibrant colors, indicating that this area of New York City has a shortage of resources and opportunities for its residents. Various faded signs cluster together by the stone surface near the door. One barely legible sign in the window reads “Sum Yet Pleasure,” suggesting that the unkempt woman standing outside makes her living as a prostitute.…

A Place of the Heart Gardens are known for bringing beauty and color into people’s life and on many occasions they hold secrets to the creator's life. People plant their gardens to express themselves in a different way other than just words. The garden’s design or plants use can relate to certain aspects in a character's life. In the novel Samurai’s Garden, by Gail Tsukiyama, the author metaphorically compares the two very different gardens of Matsu and Sachi to show how they overcome their life challenges and how they both use their gardens as a place of therapy.…

We expect it to just run on its own with no care, when we need to be tending to our garden. A garden requires gardeners, watering and care.…

I remember when I had first bought the Marigold seeds, I was looking at the picture on the seed packet examining the beautiful elegant flowers. I rushed home, I ripped open the packet and started to dig little holes in my yard for my new flowers. Days later, I watched them grow as if they were my own children; I watched them become vibrant and full of life. They had given me the hope and happiness I lost when the Great Depression hit. They had lit up my dull and boring yard and made my days brighter.…

The funny and talented actor, Rainn Wilson, was on Oprah today talking about his show, "SoulPancake. " In it two people go around in a lime green VW bus and create, what I would call, "Living Art." They encounter ordinary people on the street and ask them to participate in creating some form of art. One of the little vignettes actually brought tears to my eyes. People were asked to grab an empty picture frame, one of many hanging on a wall, and walk around, looking through it in order to spot things of beauty that they would want to frame.…

She then starts to reminisce about all the memories created there and realizes that her life will never be the same again, she has truly lost the innocence that her childhood once possessed. Through the use of concrete diction and juxtaposing imagery, Klein establishes a nostalgic yet sorrowful tone to illustrate how one can cling to their past yet cannot avoid the inevitable future, which causes them to see the world around them in a new light.…

The redemption of Mother Nature’s liveliness from the laziness of winter marks the beginning of spring. On a joyful spring day, my Mother deemed it appropriate to begin the annual cleaning of the cramped living structure attached to our motel, which we proudly called “home.” During the tedious process of re-organizing my room, I found a dusty briefcase containing many aged, crippled documents and a beautiful framed picture of my Mother. My 9-year-old self was in a perplexed state as I re-gazed at the picture in awe when my Mother told me that the “picture” was actually a drawing created by a local villager in India. This moment sparked an inextinguishable desire within me to create realistic artwork using the minimal art media that I had.…
