My “go to” snack food would have to be Nabisco’s Chips Ahoy the chocolate chip cookies of course. I almost always have a package of these delicious chocolate chip cookies stashed in my house. These chocolate chips cookies have an ingredient called thiamine mononitrate, also known as vitamin B 1, which I find interesting because it is used in the medical field to treat malnutrition. Eating certain foods can cause a deficiency in thiamine. I found that in Canada the government requires foods causing deficiency in thiamine not be used. The cookie also includes another vitamin, Riboflavin known as vitamin B2. Riboflavin plays a role in energy metabolism and has a lot of other important roles.
