The event had an incredibly welcoming atmosphere where the volunteers and staff greeted you with such sincerity and it made me feel like I was actually making a change by just attending the walk. Also, being able to communicate with many of the individuals in the rally in my native tongue was refreshing; I believe this event was a great way for me to network with the citizens of Hamilton. It allowed me to get involved with the Jain and Hindu community of Hamilton and I was able to learn their views about sustainable development in the city of Hamilton. One individual in particular he owned a small convince store in the centre of downtown and I questioned him about why he was interested in climate change and his response was refreshing. The man responded by saying “I’m doing this cause my kids forced me to”. I felt a sense of joy in his words because I learned that even children are trying to take part in the war against climate change because it’s their generation that’s going to be impacted the most. Overall the event was a great experience though there were a few flaws I was hoping for the theme to be more prevalent because I was only able to find one booth and talk to the supporters there about climate change. Also, many of the supporters I saw were adults; I find that if change is to be made it has to be done by the millennial generation because they are going to be the most impacted. The peace rally could possibly try and bring out more students from various high schools or even the peace studies students at Mc Master
