Ahemadnagar rape-murder case
A 14-year-old girl was hideously raped and murdered on 13th of July in Kopardi village in Ahmednagar district . This minor was brutally raped by three men who gave her injuries all over her body ,hair pulled off, broke her limbs and was beaten up at her own farm . Her limbs had fractured ,arms dislocated from shoulders,flesh from her body,including her genitals ,were torn, her body had human bite marks all over,her teeth smashed and she was strangled to death after rape. This class 9th student has assaulted just a few yards away from her grandparent's house. This incident took place on 13th July between 6.45PM to 7.30PM when she was returning after meeting her grandfather. On her way ,she was stopped by three

Similarly, several organizations held demonstrations demanding strict action against the accused and also sought that the trial, in this case, should is done as soon as possible for speedy conviction. The accused were booked under IPC sections 376,302,and the Protection of children from sexual offenses Act. The district collector of Kopardi announced 3 lakh to the family of the victim and handed over the cheque . Even as the three criminals have been arrested but the effects of this incident has created tension in the village of Kopardi. Parents in the village have stopped sending their daughters to schools because of fear . As a result , attendance in the school has dropped ever since the incident came to light. School children from Kopardi took part in morchas as a mark of protest . The crime has caused much disturbance in Ahmednagar district, especially among members of Maratha community. Several protests have been observed across Ahmednagar district to demand strict action in the case. "Why is this double standard? When crimes like Khairlanji and Jevkheda happen,everybody rushes to demand a fast-track court and compensation for the victim family. Now,when a girl of Maratha community has been violated and killed , why these people who outraged then are silent?", asked Shantaram Kunjir of Marathas Seva Sangh during the protest . …show more content…
However this rape and murder incident of a minor has sparked the protest by regional Maratha's outfits, such as Chhwa and Shiv Prahar . there were anti-Dalit riots all over Ahmednagar. It also resulted in conflicts between socially backward castes and upper castes, especially the powerful Maratha community. Silent morchas are held by Maratha community. Morchas in Navi Mumbai ,Akola,Beed Nanded , Osmanabad, Jalgaon, was also held.political parties like congress , shiv Sena, BJP took part in this protests. As victims parents denied to meet any political leaders, Ramdas Athavle canceled his visit to Kopardi. Tushar jagtap being a political member exclaimed that it's sad that this case has taken a caste
