Ah-Beetz Reflection

During my second year of college, I realized that my grades did not reflect the type of student I was. My grades at the time were not bad at all, but I just thought I could do so much than what I was doing. I was not really studying much and I was doing slightly more than the minimum amount of work needed. I decided it was time to change this method of work and start really pushing myself to become the student I know I am. One class I felt needed the most attention was my Law class. I decided to start studying more and reading the material a lot more thoroughly. In class I participated more often and asked many questions throughout class when I was confused with something. At midterms I had a B- in the class, by the time the semester was over my …show more content…
Part of my job is actually hiring the employees and making sure they are fully trained before they start working inside the restaurant. During the hiring process, we inform all the new employees that they must go through a training process because they need to learn how AH-Beetz is ran. We are not like all the other pizza places out there. During the training process, I find it to be important to always give the workers both positive and negative feedback on their production. The positive feedback will help motive them to do better and give them credit for the work they have done already. By giving negative feedback, it is not meant to hurt the workers and put them down, but rather to show them what they are doing wrong, so that they can improve in those specific aspects. During training, I make all the new employees practice their position over and over. Waiters and Waitresses practice greeting the customers, taking their orders, and serving them the food multiple times throughout the training process. This will help them learn their job from a hands-on basis rather than be told how to do it multiple

Honestly, I am not a very motivated person. I tend to try hard in school for the sole purpose of receiving an A. I never had thought of learning as an activity, but rather a priority. A priority that exists once again, for the purpose of getting an A. In my head, if I received an A, I would feel secure and my life would be able to move along smoothly. Receive a B, and my whole world would stop. Sadly, it seemed almost impossible for me to receive even close to a B when it came to writing.…

He also had a reputation for being incredibly smart and pushing his students beyond what they had previously known.…

The biggest change I have made this semester is taking on a creator mindset/attitude. You could ask anyone that knows me and they would say I have a pessimistic attitude. I would always joke and say I’m a pessimist because I’m either right or I’m pleasantly surprised. Simple having the negative thoughts floating around in my head constantly has certainly been a dead weight holding me down.…

An manager should provide general feedback on a regular basis, such as after tasks are completed, to keep employees aware of the quality of their work. By taking the time to offer general feedback, an employer can avoid surprising the employee with negative feedback and the unnecessary conflict it may cause. When an employee is surprised during an evaluation the focus shifts from what they must do to improve going forward and switches to a defensive posture that can manifests itself by blaming the manager for not mentioning the issues sooner. A successful manager provides feedback clearly and consistently so that when a performance appraisal is given it simply reinforces the messages that the employee has given throughout the entire year.
