The global population becomes older and older and it seems, produces a series of issues for society. In the last century, some countries, particularly developed countries, have shifted policy in the direction of low fertility. Combined with the advances in medical technology, people get better assistance, which improves the average age within a short period of time. As a result, people are happy and live longer. However, aging population problem has emerged. Although medical advances and better healthcare improved life expectancy age, the world’s population is steadily becoming older, which can bring negative results for society.

However, it is absolutely not the case. First of all, the society will be carried on by new generations. They are the future of the society, which will not affect the older generation at all. Some of older adults’ body functions make them hard to achieve psychological tasks such as keeping a certain posture and lack of cognition. To learn new skills, they require more time and training. Furthermore, old people need to be taken care of by several people, and they cannot be a part of the working population. Therefore, when the number of elderly increases, it can only cause the lack of labor force. Moreover, older people spend less on consumer goods. Recent research outlines that there are many phenomena emerge. For instance, unemployment rates stay high, activity rates are low, and the increase in percentage of dependent lead to the increasing burden for the labor population by paying more taxes and social security fees.
