Puck and Higgins were trying to impress someone. Puck was trying to impress Oberon and Higgins was trying to impress Colonel Pickering. Puck and Oberon are close because Puck is Oberon’s assistant and Puck trying to impress Oberon is like a younger sibling trying to show off to an older sibling what he/she can do. Pickering and Higgins are similar to each other because both characters are well educated in the study of languages. Higgins took showing off to a whole new level by trying to fix Eliza. Aggressive humor is used to make one’s feelings more superior to others around them (Leist, and Muller 553). Higgins is using aggressive humor to make himself feel like he is better than Pickering. When Higgins took the bet of transforming Eliza into a duchess, Higgins knew he could win the bet because of his experience in his occupation. Higgins treated Eliza horribly and Higgins called Eliza terrible names which goes back to aggressive humor. Higgins trying to be aggressive towards Eliza made Higgins feel like he was in charge and that one could stop him from doing what he wants to do. What Higgins did to Eliza is sort of like how a bully would treat someone in school. The good thing for Puck is that the humans could not spot him meaning he can do whatever he wanted to. When are person experiences a failure, he/she is usually not laughing. After many years have passed, thinking about one’s failures sometimes brings laughter because he/she could have done something different in order to prevent the failure. Although Eliza did not fail to fix her speech, she could have made smarter decisions when she was with Higgins because after awhile, she should have realized that Higgins is a bully. If Demetrius were to treat Helena with respect or just run away and hide then all four of the lovers would have never been in all that chaos in the forest. To Puck, the whole situation seemed like a clown show so he took advantage of them and did what he wanted to do. People who have a sense of humor are people who are less likely to worry about things, that is why people should laugh at their prior mistakes so their mind is
