Aggressive Communication Analysis

Based on my daily life, and depending on the specific role I play, I choose to be passive, assertive and aggressive. In reference to session 8 "Effective Communication", using a scenario, I view a passive individual to believe "You are okay, I'm not", an assertive individual to believe "I'm okay, you are okay", while an aggressive individual believes "I'm okay, and you are not". I believe all three communication styles are influence by our surroundings and how comfortable an individual is with the people around him or her. For example, on my arrival to Halifax in 2012, I found it hard to communicate in school for the first few months, due to my accent and still trying to get familiar with everyone around. I observed another assertive communication some days ago with a friend, when I asked him "Please would you turn down the volume down? I am really struggling to concentrate on my assignment " and his reply was "Yes absolutely". I saw this an assertive communication on both sides. As an employee, my communicative style depends on how comfortable I am with my colleagues and also the situation I see myself in. A great example of this, was at a job interview I had at Canadian Choice Home Service, for the position of a field representative sales associate. The interview was on for about 10 minutes, and the hiring manager made a comments that I looked like a quite person, and immediately I thought to myself that a sales associate generally has to be active. Following this, his next statement was " Wow, you are 17 years old, why do you think to are the best fit for this job ", I smiled, sat up, and my reply was that " As an inspiring engineer, diligence, hard work, product approach, and customer satisfaction are qualities I hope to bring to company, and also improve on during my work term with this organization" and surprisingly I got the …show more content…
Three major symptoms of exam anxiety I have suffered from are memory blocks, fear of failing before an exam, and inability to concentrate during an exam. Memory blocks happens to be quite constant and common exam anxiety I face during midterms or finals. A day before the exam I feel ready but the day of the exam I start panicking. In my case, these symptoms of exam anxiety all happen like a chain of reaction. Firstly, I wake up with the fear of failing the exam due to my thoughts of past exams that I have failed. Secondly, immediately I get into an examination hall, that environment suddenly gives me memory blocks, and I begin to start every single thing read, bits by bits. Lastly, based on the inability to not remember what was read, it becomes almost impossible for me to concentrate as thoughts of having to retake a course or getting academically dismissed starts flying in. Factors in my academic behaviour that have increased my exam behaviour would be studying a night before and also depending on my finals grade to pass a course. As an engineering student, it is quite difficult to avoid studying the night before, but I feel there is a difference between studying and reviewing. Due to my procrastination and having other things due around that same period, it is difficult to avoid studying the night before. Secondly, based on my performance at the early half of the semester, for example, I did really bad in my quizzes and midterm last year and I depended on my final to

Amy Tan’s “Mother Tongue” was interesting as it was the first time I really had to analyze my communication forms. I communicate differently when I speak because I’m introverted, yet when writing I’m solo and have time to collect and express my thoughts. I realized I really was the “listener”, whereas my father was the Big “Talker”. Recently I told my fiancé that communication was overrated since she complained about how difficult it was for her to figure me out as I didn’t explain in more depth during conversation.…
