“In real life, killing is a traumatic experience. But in video games, it’s something that can happen a hundred times a minute,” says Walt Williams (5). Aggression is a growing cause in America today. Violence is now starting at an extremely young age. Why? Because one of the many causing factors of violence is violent video games that are made in todays’ time. Some examples of the video game are Grand Theft Auto (also known as GTA), Modern Warfare, Call of Duty, and Dark Souls. Men that play violent-sexist video games have a higher belief in masculinity (Gabbiadini 1). “Real Men” feel that they are associated with high status and power from these games, which causes feelings of anger and rage. When it comes to television, women are shown as sex objects, which increase the chances of sexual harassment (Bushman 3). The empathy felt for women has dropped a severe amount due to the games and TV. Studies show that male college students who saw photos of sex-typed male and female video game characters were more tolerant of sexual harassment against a female college student by a male professor (vs. professional men and women) (K 2). Abolishing violent video games will not stop shootings and crime, but it would lower the rates a drastic amount. In the last thirteen years, the youth crime rate managed to reach a thirty-two year low in 2012 due to the popularity of games (Ferguson 4). A huge reason that these games have so much effect on the games is because the games are used to create a different version of oneself (McGrath 2). The world would be better off without video games or at least without violent video games. Crime rates would drop and people would
