Agent Orange Reflection

Decent Essays
The artifacts that I have included are all reflective of my unit 4 writing assignment progression. I decided to revise my unit 4 writing assignment "The Legacy of Agent Orange" because it has been difficult for me. Initially I failed to completely understand the objective of the assignment and as a result I submitted a paper that failed to argue a misperceived facet of American culture. Furthermore, I felt the urge to rewrite the paper so that it further reflected my development as a writer because I feel that I have made significant improvements to my overall understanding of writing throughout the duration of this course. The artifacts included detail the initial confusion, identifying the issue, and finally developing a course of action

Another assessment the nurse monitors for is the formation of thrombosis or clots. “Because patients undergoing prostatectomy have a high incidence of DVT and pulmonary embolism, the provider may prescribe prophylactic low-dose heparin therapy” (Pellico, 2013, p. 963). Heparin helps to decrease the formation of clots, which can have a dangerous outcome if not caught early. While a patient is on heparin therapy, the nurse should cautiously monitor the client for bleeding (Pellico, 2013). Anxiety related to health status is a nursing diagnosis that would be appropriate for a client who is about to receive treatment.…

Throughout this process I learned about the many problems historians face. I learned about the struggle of finding reliable sources to use in my paper. For example, I found a great quote concerning the reason for North Vietnam to fire at U.S. vessels, but if the source has no author, or if the author is not a credible source, the using that particular resource would be bad decision. Another problem I faced that many historians face as well is determining which events are historically significant to the topic. What I did is I asked myself whether these events truly had a strong influence on the Tonkin Gulf Resolution or if the Resolution influenced them.…

Hello Dr. Williams, Thank you for responding to my e-mail, and yes I had to reach out to you when I realize the mistake. The assignment was totally demolished and I am here working on it. Despite the stumbling blocks that I have continuously attempting to overcome; giving up was never on my mind. The questions that you asked on that APA paper, along with the how you wanted the class to present the assignment to you was all foreign to me. However, I am still curious as to what came across your mind as you read the assignment.…

Throughout this semester, we have written two major papers that really display my capabilities as a writer. By evaluating these two pieces with the learning outcomes established at the beginning of this semester, outcomes 1, 2, and 3 are most applicable when gauging my progress in this course. Learning outcome 1 is, "Demonstrate academic research and writing skills in essays and projects to participate in a scholarly conversation" Learning outcome 2 is, "Demonstrate critical reading through a knowledge of the forms and functions of a variety of texts" Learning Outcome 3 is, "Follow a research writing process that includes developing a topic, locating and evaluating sources (including peer-reviewed), composing in response to those sources, and revising and reflecting on that process;" Each of these outcomes I believe I have met by using them as goals when writing in and out of class. In my essay "Survivors and their Children: Examining the Holocaust's Multigenerational Effects" I discuss the impact the Holocaust has on those who survived it and on their children.…

My information sounded too much like a summary, lacked analysis and failed to make an argument. In my second body paragraph, my thesis was again lost as I went on about the Powhatans in a textbook matter instead of using a historian’s lens, this pattern continued. I had realized that my paragraphs should answer the question and criticism scribbled in red on the margins of my paper: So What? I was left with numerous tips to carry onto the Revolution paper, a piece that would demand clear thesis integration as it analyzed the events leading up to the Revolutionary War.…

“Revise, revise, revise!” The echoes of my high school English teacher’s wise words still reverberate within my head whenever I am writing a paper, be it a think sheet, essay, or report. Over the years, I have fine tuned my writing process and strived to make it as efficient as possible, but as with all matters, there is always improvements to be made. The field trip to the Harry Ransom Center (HRC) was illuminating in the sense that I got to see firsthand how professional writers and great thinkers did their writing process. While there were several similarities between their writing process and mine, I also gathered some new insight into how the writing process works and gathered ideas for myself that I had not thought of doing before.…

In my paper, I tried avoiding just explaining what the Korean Armistice Agreement was because I felt like that was too easy as well required very little thought. I focused on the problems of the Korean Armistice Agreement because I have family that lives in South Korea as well I find the Korean Armistice Agreement to be very problematic for multiple reasons. I divided the essay by having each paragraph focus on a specific problem or two problems that connected with each other. The problems that I used were issues that affected my family in South Korea and myself. For example in the first paragraph, I focused on the constant threat of war because every day I worry about my family in Korea.…

For the Revision Assignment, I chose to revise my film review because it was my lowest grade that I had on a writing assignment. I felt I could improve on a lot of sloppy errors I made and missed he first writing process by giving it a more keen editing and revision process. I really enjoyed this assignment because it allowed us as writers to express ourselves with more freedom than the other, more academic, assignments we’ve been prompted to write over the course of English Composition I and II. The first time I wrote this piece I followed the writing process of prewriting, writing, revision, then editing. I felt this was a strong paper content-wise.…

I rushed to finish typing my paper the night before it was due, barely comprehending the words I typed, hit the print button, and put the paper in my binder. Prior to enrolling in dual credit Composition, I had been just barely putting enough effort in to get A’s in my English courses and dual credit American History when it came to writing papers. The techniques I have learned throughout this course have encouraged me to cogitate more about my paper topics, allowing me to better convey messages to the reader. The notion of an implicit thesis goes past the basic explicit thesis that I have always used in my writing.…

Throughout the course of this class, there has been a considerable difference in my writing. Since starting English101, I have tried to make changes in my pieces to better fir the leaning goals of the class. The majority of this year was spent on improving our writing for the first three targets, though the fourth is still relevant and important in crafting polished essay. As the year progressed, I began to see myself more easily spotting errors of syntax, spelling, and other cosmetic details. To demonstrate my ability to revise based on the feedback of others and my own opinions, I chose to revisit my Insider/Outsider Biography, paper 1.1. Coming back to this piece after several months, I immediately saw a lot of room for improvement. Spelling and grammar issues aside, my essay lacked substance and specificity, especially in my central claim, which was not narrow or well-defined enough to form a strong argument.…
