Agent 47 Hitman

Agent 47 is back once again. The cool, calm and calculated assassin returns in the latest Hitman, though this time, the story unfolds in the form of various episodes, the next of which are due for release later in the year.

Now, it's understandable that the release of Hitman in episodes may be concerning, though, with this particular title, I think it's important that IO interactive get it right, especially after the disappointment of Absolution where the end product felt rushed and unfinished.

While I'm not an advocate for releasing games in chapters, and I certainly wouldn't want that to become the norm for the future of AAA titles. But since a history of delay issues exist for this Hitman installment already, then I'm not too fussed about

So is chapter one worth your time or are you better off waiting for the entire story to be available to download all at once?

STORY

Ultimately, Hitman "Intro Pack" serves as both a prologue and a sequel to 2012's Hitman: Absolution. The prologue, set in a training facility mimicking a past mission on a boat in Sydney, is primarily a tutorial for those of you new to the series, Its hear where you get to grips with the gameplay mechanics, where you learn to incapacitate guards and employees, disguise yourself, and hide bodies while searching for your primary assassination target.

While that may sound unappealing to veterans of the Hitman series, those of you familiar with agent 47 will still benefit from the opening tutorials as it's here you can practice your assassin skills and replay the mission as many times as you want in order to experience all the different killing techniques.

Once you're familiar with what Hitman's all about, you fast forward twenty years to your first mission "Showstopper", set at a fashion show in Paris,

There's a multitude of different ways to approach each task and you may start to feel overwhelmed by everything in front of you. But Hitman doesn't want you to just pick one way and leave it at that. There's so many different ways to assassinate each target with no right or wrong way to do so.

Inevitably, you will need to disguise yourself as a bodyguard or waiter but in order to do so you'll need to neutralise an employee. Do you subdue each, merely knocking them out, or do you murder them in cold blood? All possibilities when executed feel satisfying and look fantastic when in full effect.

A new feature to the Hitman series is Opportunities. This system presents you with various options to select. You might overhear a guard or guest mention specifics such as your target's schedule or that there's a special guest in the crowd that they will be meeting later in the night. In essence, you're playing detective and it's up to you how to utilise these pieces of information and how best to approach each opportunity.

Though once you have figured out your killing methods, you must be careful how you go about your business as certain staff members will know you don't belong, regardless of your disguise. These persons stand out due to a white dot over their head and are noticeable by pressing R1 to activate your Hitman

In the film M, Fritz Lang’s use of costume to disguise and later to expose the child murderer, Beckert, in plain sight creates parallelism to the historical context of the film. The costumes serve as a representation of how people dressed during that time period. Since M depicts a time period in Germany when serial killers terrorized cities without much of a penalty, Lang emphasizes the use of costume and appearance to show how the killers disguised themselves to fit in and avoid punishment. The costume worn by many of the men actors, including the murderer, consist of dark coats, dark jackets, solid colored suit pants, or trousers, and the classic fedora hats or caps.…

I don't know why I was expecting more out of The Vault than what got delivered. It's not that I set my standards all the high, I think the issue is that the Vault is a genuine bad movie. Possibly the worst I've seen to date and that's including Bitten. At least I can say with Bitten that it was at least able to keep me engaged enough I didn't fall asleep, forcing me to re-watch it later to properly review it (I nearly fell asleep during the second viewing as well).…
